Exenatide: From the Gila Monster to the Pharmacy

Drug Interactions

Because exenatide slows gastric emptying, it may holdup cognitive state and attack of action mechanism of concomitantly administered oral medications.
For medications that require rapid gastrointestinal attention for a rapid onrush of physical process (such as antibiotics, sildenafil, or analgesics), patients should be advised to take the drug at least 1 hour before exenatide brass.
If the medicinal drug is best absorbed with a meal, the case should be advised to take the drug at lunchtime or administered with a snack when exenatide is not administered.
During the pivotal trials, with most of the patients taking many of the usual concomitant medications (e.g., aspirin, antihypertensive, or antihyperlipidemic agents), no adverse interactions with exenatide were observed.
